Christmas

At Christmas time, just nine days before the celebration of Christmas, a tradition with special roots in this municipality takes place, consisting of the so-called Masses of the Light, which are celebrated at dawn and have the participation of residents of the municipality who go singing Christmas carols through the streets of the town, to summon the faithful.

Carnivals

Feast of Saint Peter

It takes place on June 29th in the Parish of San Pedro in the Agaete Valley. The most notable part of it is the celebration of the Descent of the Branch, where the pilgrims on the night of the 27th go up to the Tamadaba pine forest to cut the branches that they themselves will take down at dawn and then dance the Rama throughout the San Pedro neighborhood, giving them to the Saint at the end of the route, except for those of pennyroyal and thyme that will remain in the houses to relieve colds and flu.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception

It is celebrated on December 8. It is the festival of the parish of the town, since the Patron Saint of Agaete is the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, with the Virgin of the Snows being the co-patron saint of the same.

Feast of Our Lady of the Snows

On August 5th, the main festival of the town is celebrated in honour of Our Lady of the Snows, whose image is in the hermitage located in Puerto de las Nieves. The image is there all year round, except for the days from August 5th to 17th when it remains in the Parish of Our Lady of the Conception, in the centre of the town.
